Sustainable Development

In a world where issues such as poverty, pollution, global warming and habitat destruction are regular news items, we believe it is important that children come to an understanding of sustainable development.

Pupils participate in various recycling schemes and are ecouraged to look after the school environment.

Through programmes such as the Global Campaign for Education and UNICEF's "Day for Change" children are made aware of world poverty. As a result of regular contributions to the school's charity fund, two children are sponsored through the "Adopt-a-Child" organisation.

The school holds the Eco-Schools Outstanding Achievement Award. We represented Northern Ireland at the World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg. Click here for more information on environmental awards we have won.

Over a number of years, our school grounds have been developed both for social and educational use.
