Educational
Standards
Our school has a long established reputation for high academic standards.
The challenging goals set by the teaching staff are a major factor in
this high level of success. It is usual for a large number of our pupils,
normally twice the national average, to achieve a level in the transfer
examinations which will guarantee them a grammar school place. The results
for pupils who sat the transfer test over the last two years are shown
below.

in ICT and all pupils were awarded Level 4.
Assessment and Reporting
Assessment involves the continuous monitoring of the individual child's
progress combined with more formal tests or examinations. Parents are
welcome to make an appointment at any time to discuss their child's progress
and are invited to attend parent/teacher consultation meetings held in
October and January. Progress reports are also issued at the end of each
academic year.
Special
Needs
All children are "screened" at the beginning of each academic
year to assess their achievements in Reading. Any children identified
as having learning difficulties have Individual Education Plans drawn
up which are regularly reviewed and parents informed of progress. The
Educational Unit provides a quiet area where small groups or individuals
are taught by the special needs teacher. Three of the teaching staff are
trained in Reading Recovery and provision is also made for the gifted
child.
